About The Dead South

The Dead South, formed in Regina, Saskatchewan in 2012, are a folk-bluegrass quartet known for their raw acoustic sound merging banjo, mandolin, guitar and cello with dark storytelling and humor. Their breakout hit “In Hell, I’ll Be in Good Company” has gone platinum; other fan favorites include “Banjo Odyssey” and “Diamond Ring.” They’ve won two JUNO Awards (2018 & 2020) for Traditional Roots Album of the Year. Their latest studio album is “Chains & Stakes” (2024), and most recent single is a cover, “Joey” (April 2025).
